About Dúnia
Native Angolan, dancer and dance instructor. Founder of the African dance revue “Mulemba” – Poland’s Got Talent semi-finalist; organiser of the first festival of kuduro in Europe “KuduroMania Festival”, author and coordinator of the cultural project “Zungueiras.” Dúnia is a frequent guest at various festivals and cultural events in Poland, USA, Hungary, Lithuania, Czech Republic, Russia, Portugal. She is the first dance instructor in Poland to teach the secrets and techniques of kuduro and mapouka.
African dances have been a very important part of Dúnia’s life since childhood. She grew up in the family of sportspeople and dancers, and learnt such Angolan dances as kabetula, semba, kizomba and kuduro at home. She began her professional dancing career in 2006 and has since been developing her techniques in various dance styles, including carnival samba and traditional and modern African dances, both in Poland and abroad.
Dúnia is constantly evolving as a dancer, perfecting her skills and expanding her knowledge of new forms of movement. She finds cooperating with others inspiring. She has performed with the Brazilian band Unha de Gato from Niterói and has worked with Muleketu, the French samba-reggae group and the largest of its kind in Europe. As choreographer, she co-organised artistic programmes of the following festivals: Samba Festival in 2008 and 2009, and Afro-Brazilian Drums Festival in 2008 and 2009. She also participates in TV programmes, music videos and commercials. She is fascinated by extraordinary people, travelling, foreign languages and, of course, dancing.
